What makes a great hair product? Most of us are looking for a shampoo product that will clean our hair and scalp without irritating it, remove sweat, dirt, built up oils, and odour, and nourish our hair to keep it healthy in the process. If we're using a conditioner, we want one that will optmize the health of our hair, support the natural oils that our scalp and hair produce, and be easy to manage in terms of tangling, and frizz. Ultimately when our hair is clean and dry, we want it to be soft, shiny, and healthy.

Ingredients and benefits of our hair care products:

Infused Oils - Our shampoo bars are enriched with oils that have been infused with hair loving botanicals such as comfrey leaves, chamomile and lavender. These oils include coconut, olive, sunflower, castor, grapeseed, and almond, as well as shea and cocoa butter.

Hydrolized Silk –  The proteins found in silk fibres are very similar to human proteins and provide amino acids that restores shine and srength to dull or damaged hair.  Although this ingredient is an animal by-product, it is cruetly free and harvested from the cocoon of the silk worm after it no longer has need of it. 

BTMS 50 - This is an emulsiying wax that keeps the ingredients blended in the product and conditions the hair. It is positively charged (cationic), so it bonds to the hair which is negatively charged. The positive charge is a necessary attribute for an ingredient to be considered conditioning. For the sake of transparency, there is some debate about the role of emulsifiers in every day products including cosmetics and personal products, so it's always adviseable to test a small amount of product on your skin before using it, or reading up on ingredients.

Cationic Guar – Chosen for its ability to condition the hair, and thicken the shampoo formulation and support lathering.

Glycerin - Derived from vegetable products, glycerine is a humectant and its role is to attract and retain moisture on the hair shaft.

Distilled Water – Distilled water offers the elimination of water borne contaminants. Distilled water has no toxic metal or industrial pollutants.

DL Panthenol– The ingredient is well known because of its inclusion in Pantene products, it's included in this formulation because its conditioning properites protect hair from being damaged through styling, processing, or the natural elements and add sheen and shine.

Olivem 300 – This ingredient offers long term moisturizing and supports natural hair oil recovery.  

Polyuarternium 7 – This ingredient helps to prevent frizz and static and provides the slip that makes detangling a breeze. The result is hair that is soft and shiny.

Cocomidopropyl betaine– This is a coconut based surfactant that does two things because it combines two seemingly opposite properties. If you think of a surfactant's  structure microscopically, it could be compared to having a head and a tail. The tail has an aversion to water and so seeks and adheres to dirt and oils. Its head on the other hand is attracted to water, so when it is rinsed away it carries the attached dirt and oil with it.

Bioterge as40– This ingredient is included for its ability to cleanse. Also a surfactant and derived from coconut oleic acid which is the most commonly found fatty acid in nature. 

Capryl/capryl glucoside– Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside provides gentle cleaning and is a highly effective solubolizer for essential oils and fragrances.

Germall Plus – When creating recipes with water, one must consider the possibility of bacteria making a home for itself. After much research and consideration, Oola Body Care has chosen Germall Plus to prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast and mold in our shampoo products.

Liquid Crothix – This plant-based additive thickens the shampoo making it easier to use, and adds a creamy texture to the product.
